Our Pastor

Our pastor is Fr. Philip Egan. Fr. Phil has experienced a variety of assignments in Missouri, from suburban (St. John LaLande in Blue Springs, Our Lady of Lourdes in Raytown, and Nativity of Mary in Independence) and urban parishes (St. Louis and St. Monica in Kansas City) to rural parishes (Holy Rosary in Clinton, St. Bartholomew in Windsor and St. Catherine in Osceola). He joined Holy Family in January 2014.

Fr. Phil was raised in Boston, Mass. He came to the area when stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in the early 1970’s. He was trained as a medic and served as the surgical scrub technician. While there, he felt the call to the priesthood. He graduated from Conception College in 1978 and Kenrick Seminary in 1982 with a master’s degree in divinity. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Kansas City in 1982. Fr. Phil is Holy Family’s fifth pastor.

When people ask him “How do you like it?” of leading the parish at Holy Family, he responds with “God continues to stretch me.” Fr. Phil continues to learn and grow with a church staff of nine dedicated men and women and is grateful to God for inviting him to be His priest. He feels blessed to be with the faith community of Holy Family. He sees each day as a spiritual adventure during which the prayer, “Come on Holy Spirit” echo’s numerous times in his heart.
