Joe Melies grew up on a small farm about sixty miles east of Kansas City. After high school, Joe attended Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems.

After college graduation, Joe moved to Kansas City with his wife, Annette, and worked for Hallmark Cards for 34 years before retiring. Joe joined the Holy Family staff as the administrative assistant in April 2022. You may recognize him as one of the piano accompanists here at Holy Family. When not working or playing piano, you may find Joe volunteering at Operation Breakthrough in the infant/toddler room.

Joe and Annette have two children, Kristen and Derek. Kristen got married at Holy Family in 2020. Kristen and her husband, Jade, live in Kansas City. Derek and his partner, Caroline, also reside in Kansas City.
