Small Christian Communities
Fellowship. Connection. Reflection on Weekly Scripture. Do these words catch your attention? We encourage you to sign up for Small Christian Communities! What’s that? Small Christian Communities (SCC) are made up of 6-12 parishioners who come together usually weekly in homes, at the parish, at assisted living centers, or in restaurants to reflect on and learn more about the upcoming Sunday scripture readings (a resource will be provided). SCCs focus on Scripture to pray, reflect, and discuss how the Word of God is relevant today to each of us.
SCCs have as their foundation the formation of Christ with the apostles: the gathering of the early Christians who met in homes to share the gospel and “the breaking of bread” and who then, supported in faith, reached out to others in service.
SCCs focus on Scripture to pray, reflect, and discuss how the Word of God is relevant today and especially to each participant.
SCCs are a sacred space to...
- Be valued and respected as a unique creation of God.
- Listen and be listened to.
- Be loved and supported spiritually in the celebrations and the messiness of life.
- Pray, to share faith, to see God.
- Be encouraged and supported in sharing our gifts with one another, our parish community, our world.
- Live and love and grow and become most truly who God created us to be.
For information, contact Christen Cota at [email protected] or by phone at (816) 436-9200 ext. 304.
Sign-Ups will begin later in the year.
