Service Outreach
Catholic Worker House Catholic Worker House is a Catholic community of men and women who live together and serve the poor. They serve breakfast Monday through Thursday and evening meals on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 912 E. 31st Street in Kansas City, Mo. The parish prepares and serves the evening meal on the third Sunday of each month. The collection dates will be listed in the bulletin. Donations of canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, tuna, boxed macaroni and cheese or other non-perishable food and toiletry items may be placed in the food collection barrels located inside the closets at the back of church. St. James Place Kitchen On the first Tuesday of each month, members of Holy Family serve the evening meal at St. James Place Kitchen at 3934 Troost, Kansas City, Mo. E-mail for More About Our Ministry to St. James Place Love INC Holy Family is now a church partner to Love INC (In the Name of Christ). Calls for financial assistance are now referred to the organization, which encourages churches to supply hands-on help on a continuous basis. Holy Family needs volunteers to assist at Love INC’s facilities in Liberty. Funeral Dinners Holy Family provides funeral dinners for the family and friends of parishioners who have died. The St. Joseph's Women's Group serves and coordinates the dinners. If you would like to provide food or help serve, click here. Helping Hands Helping Hands is a ministry for parishioners by parishioners. Parishioners will help disabled or elderly parishioners with one-time inside and outside maintenance or cleaning projects. Call the parish office at 436-9200 if you can help or if you need help. Giving Tree Each Advent, Holy Family sponsors a Giving Tree program. Needy Northland families are adopted for the holiday season. Parish members select ornaments from the tree and purchase the gift indicated on the ornament. Have questions regarding the Giving Tree? Giving Tree 2011 Other Service Outreach Projects: • Sock it to Poverty, the Redemptorist drive for socks and underwear, held in September • Personal care item drive for St. Benedict’s Pantry, associated with the Sisters of Mercy’s Mission Thrift Store in Claycomo; ongoing collection with barrels in the back closets at church • Inner City School Drive (Mid America Assistance Coalition), collection of folders and binders from mid-July to early August • Service Blitz, multiple service and donation opportunities in early February E-mail here for more information about service outreach programs. |
