  Scouting Religious Medals

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting has had the responsibility for nearly 70 years to promote and guide cooperative contacts between the authorities of the Catholic Church and the Boy Scouts of America in the United States. The Scouting program is recognized as an integral part of the total youth ministry at the diocesan level.

Gail Lavenburg serves as the Boy/Cub Scout Parish Member Representative for Holy Family. She works with Scouts at Holy Family to help them obtain their religious emblems. For more information on the programs offered at Holy Family, e-mail her at religiousmedals@holyfamily.com Or call the parish office at 436-9200.

Following are the religious medals that can be obtained through Scouting and the Catholic Church:

Requirements must be completed before starting the third grade.

The “Parvuli Dei” program is to help young boys explore a wide range of activities in order to discover the presence of God in their daily lives as members of their family and parish, and also to develop a good positive self-image through the contributions they can make to the group or community. Must be a registered Bear or Webelos Scout (third through fifth grade) of the Catholic faith.

BOY SCOUTS

Must be a registered Boy Scout (recommended 16-18 years old) of the Catholic Faith.

GIRL SCOUTS and CAMP FIRE RELIGIOUS MEDALS

"Mary, The First Disciple" (Marian Medal) program actively involves the participants in an understanding of Mary as the model of openness and spirituality – a woman of the Church. Must be a registered Girl Scout or Camp Fire member (12-15 years old) of the Catholic faith.
