How old should my child be before preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Communion?
  • Children must be at least in the second grade.
What, if any, other requirements are there for my child?
  • Children must have made their First Reconciliation.


  • Children must have completed one year of religious education immediately preceding their year of sacramental preparation.
What is the parents' involvement in preparing the child to receive the Sacrament of First Communion?
  • Parent must attend an informational meeting.


  • Parents must attend two activity events with their children – a Mass Demonstration and the First Communion Activity Day.


  • Parents work with their child at home to complete the First Communion preparation workbook.
