Confirmation
What do you need before you can prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation?
- Teens must have completed one year of religious education at the high school level.
- A person must be in the 10th grade or older to begin the preparation program.
How long does the preparation program last?
- One school semester. Fall and spring preparation will be offered.
What does the preparation program consist of?
- Attending small group meetings with adult facilitators. The purpose of these meeting is for the person to learn about and expand his or her faith, specific to the Sacrament of Confirmation.
- Completing service hours.
- Attending one-on-one meetings with their sponsors.
- Participating in retreats, prayer services and certain liturgical rites.
What does the person selected to be a Confirmation Sponsor have to do?
- The confirmation sponsor must submit a signed participation agreement.
- The confirmation sponsor must submit an eligibility certificate, which is signed by their current pastor and sealed with their parish's seal.
